Creating A New TRACKER-
Before you start

• Pick a current event, and find up to 10 online articles for the current event. For help finding good web sites, go to http://trackcurrentevents.org/links/
• Create questions/comments for each of your selected web sites to ask the users.
• Create a short overview of the current event
• (Optional)Take a digital picture of yourself, and write a short introduction of yourself.

Creating the TRACKER

• Go to http://trackcurrentevents.org and click on "CREATE A TRACKER".
• If you have never created a TRACKER before, register with trackcurrentevents.org as a user by filling out the form provided, including any "bio" information you wish to include. You can upload the picture of your self on this page. Click on the "UPLOAD" button.
• If you are already registered with TRACKER, you may sign in either at the right side of the home page or at the right side of the "CREATE A TRACKER" page.
• Click on the "CREATE A NEW TRACKER" button. The other option is to create a Hot Topic. To learn more about hot topics go to Create a Hot Topic (http://trackcurrentevents.org/tutorial/hot_topics_tutorial.php.)

• Enter the appropriate level for the students taking the TRACKER, the name of the current event, the title for your summary, and the summary you created for the current event. Click on the "UPLOAD" button.

• Enter the display name, URL(web address) of the link along with the question/comment for that article. Click on the "ADD LINK" button.
• When you have added all the URLŐs you would like Press the "FINISH" button to get the address of your TRACKER.
• Write down the address of your TRACKER. You will have the address automatically sent to the email address you registered with. You can also obtain the address of the tracker by logging into your account. To learn more about this go to Managing My Account.

Creating a Hot Topic TRACKER-
What is a Hot Topic?

• A Hot Topic is a pre-made TRACKER that acts as a resource for others to use for their own TRACKER. The URL's(websites), questions and overview are used as a new TRACKER that has it's own discussion board, Online Newspaper and Question Responses.
